Big Bend National Park, Sept. 2, 2026

When you travel to Big Bend and see the new construction/destruction—firsthand, it’s hard not to think there's a better way to meet security concerns.  This is a National Park; we only have 63 of them.  Don't tread on it!

This image seeks to show both the height of the cliff walls on the Mexican side of the border and new road construction in Big Bend National Park near Santa Elena Canyon. In addition to the cliffs, there is a parallel paved road in the park 10 to 100+ feet from this newly constructed one. So why is this road needed?
